Hello

I discovered Reiki over 20 years ago when I was going through a big relationship break up and feeling angry and hurt.

One day at my yoga class, I found a leaflet about Reiki healing.  I had heard about Reiki before but never tried it and didn’t really know much about it.  

 

So out of pure curiosity, I booked a session.  And that was how I met Renate who has gone on to become my Reiki mentor.  

 

I was apprehensive at my first session, but Renate soon put me at my ease.  I had been under the impression that Reiki was a form of massage but Renate took the time to explain that it was actually energy work.  The hour flew by, although I don’t think I was awake for much of it as I was so relaxed.

 

The next day I noticed what I now call the ‘magic’ of Reiki. 

 

For the first time since my relationship broke up, I found I wasn’t angry with my ex-husband.  I hadn’t made any conscious decision to stop being angry and hadn’t even been aware that it had become a part of my life until it wasn’t there anymore!

 

I went back for more sessions: each one was totally different and helped me in so many ways.

From there it was the logical decision to become a Reiki practitioner.  I completed Reiki levels 1 and 2 and for years used it on myself, my family and friends.

 

My son has received Reiki from before he was born.  I was surprised, and relieved, to find that Reiki helped to stop the constant kicking that was exhausting me.  And when he was born, I found that giving him Reiki made him calmer and helped him to sleep. As he grew Reiki was always our first go to ‘treatment’ for the usual childhood ailments.  He loved telling me what colours he was seeing as he received the healing.

 

Even today as a strapping 20 something, he still receives Reiki ahead any kind of medication when he’s feeling unwell.

 

I was finally prompted to share my love and appreciation of Reiki with a wider group, after helping a friend who was suffering from severe physical pain due to auto-immune illnesses.  She found her pain was markedly reduced for several days after the Reiki and she urged me to help others.

So I completed the Reiki journey by obtaining my Reiki Master certification, and set up My Reiki Circle to offer everything that I’ve found useful over the years: healing, learning and a supportive network of like-minded people.

​
